One of us Lying is a mystery/ suspense book written by Karen McManus, published in 30th May 2017.

"About that" ,a gossiping or a truth telling website where Simon Kelleher reveals almost every ones secrets and puts every ones lives on danger in Bayview High.

He makes lots of enemies through this, but none of his writing was wrong or lie!

The story begins with framed detention of five students namely; Simon Kelleher, Cooper Clay, Adelaide Prentiss, Nathaniel Macauley and Bronwyn Rojas.

They were not friends and hardly acquainted to each other, but what brought them together was all framed by a murderer who was wether in detention with them(one of them could be murderer) or someone outside seeking for an opportunity(if it was possible).

The story gets twisty when Simon Kelleher while arguing with other students suddenly fell down and seemed to face reaction from the very glass of water he was drinking.

All the students panicked and searched for something to help him, but everything was lost, like it was planned before this will happen.

The water had peanut oil, which was put onto his water during the intrusion they had in class from a collision in the school parking lot. Simon died in hospital.

Now there were four of them.

The story gets so interesting and easy to read that you can finish it just in one day.

The four become suspects while from Simon's website the police find out that Simon was going to post secrets of each of those four which will put them in quite dangerous an uneasy place.

But who really is the murderer?

One of the four?

Or someone is framing them?

I enjoyed reading the book. I become very anxious while reading criminal books and I soon want to discover the murderer. I have the habit of having doubts about every one and check their motives, but seriously I didn't have any idea of the climax of the book, untill sometime in the last chapters.

It has so many plot twits that for those loving criminal/ mysterious book lovers is a celebration.

It also has two sequel books that you may want to read them.

For me I am not so sure, but I will sleep on it.

The real point of reading a mysterious book is to read it yourself so I don't want to spoil it for anyone.

However, there are some points which are important to discuss;

  1. Teenagers: When we are growing up specially among peers who are ambitious or among those who are very proud to be a student, it is really hard to be the real you. Some how you lose yourself with the help of some glamorous teen girls or boys. You want to be in the cool group of teens, but you forget yourself which make you arrogant and proud. Don't let others decide who you are, be yourself and do what you feel is right.

  2. Love and support: Very important matter to teens when they grow up. They want love and support of others when their parents fail to give them. This wanting can lead them to places they never intend to go, but they are leaded by lack of love and if they receive that love from a family member, their eyes become open and they can identify good from bad path.

  3. Parenting: Again the same love and affection, responsibilities fulfilling from parents can affect the whole outcome of someone.

  4. Gossiping: Everyone is interested in gossiping and knowing everything about others to mock them, but when it comes to them they will understand how much it hurts. So why give someone a chance to ruin a person's life like it's nothing. Like they have no worth of living which really is inhumane.

Teenager's life is not easy. You have to overcome all the expectations your family and others have from you and also you have to live your own life.

Decision making in this era, depends more on the society they grew up in. Sometimes it gets so much tiring and make them do the things they are not meant to.

And I always say suffering and pain actually give you strength to be someone you should be ,so if you face these problems in your life, know that you are no ordinary and know that only you can change your life by deciding the right path and that right path could be a path that will lead you to yourself or it could be a right path just for you to lead you to someone you never were.
